in general, the books I have and like to read are:

1. A Song of Ice and Fire, a series of fantasy novels by American author George R.R. Martin.
2. The Broken Empire Trilogy" by Mark Lawrence.

to admit that before I didn't like reading books at all, I just considered it boring.

Here we go with my top :D
3) Fatherland
The plot is about a world in which the Axis has won the Second World War; a man, searching the truth, tries to find the extermination camps, of which there is, however, no evidence left. The ending is totally unexpected...

2) Animal farm
Very touching: it's a 'parody' of the Russian Revolution, only set on a farm. The beginning is very happy, but the book ends poignantly. I recommend it :D

1) World War (Harry Turtledove)
It'is actually a series of eight novels, divided into three parts (Worldwar, Colonization and Homeward Bound). My favourite volume is probably the third (Worldwar: Upsetting the Balance). The story is about an alien invasion that took place during World War II, which Humanity manages to resist by bravely securing its freedom. Gradually as we move on, however, we realise that perhaps the aliens are better than us...
